is this a valid reason to not go to work?

hi everyone, i'm quite torn on whether or not to call in sick to work. i work in a kitchen preparing food and doing dishes so i use my hands a lot. about 3 weeks ago, i got my nails done (at an appropriate length for work) however we went into lockdown and my nails have grown out and i've been unable to get them removed. this morning i knocked my nail and ripped my whole entire nail off (including my natural nail). there was a lot of blood and now my nail is delicately wrapped up in a plaster.

my nail is very sore and i'm worried about infecting my nail as i do dishes and i do wear gloves however dirty dishwater always leaks into my gloves. on the other hand, i feel as if it's a pathetic excuse to call in sick because i "broke a nail."

do you guys think it's a valid excuse or not? thank you.
