I'm too qualified for this job but want it. Small business - is this too much for the interview process?
They're hiring a receptionist. I have 5 years management experience. But they seem small and don't seem to have an office manager. I want the position because I'm re-entering the workforce and it's close to my house with flexible hours. I also don't want to go back to corporate.
They are clearly not very professional (lots of family business/energetic person needed/we're a team vibes). "Must be sociable!!!" is in the job description. During the phone interview, the owner mentioned I might be too qualified. I assured her I was happy with the posting and she booked an in person interview.
Would it be too much to (from a small business prospective)...
a) bring cookies from the bakery next door to their office for their staff during my in person interview. I think this would be good since they talk about being "a family,"
b) analyze their social media and recommend area's for improvement by comparing them to competitors
c) write a hand-written thank you note after the interview and put it in the mail right away so it's delivered 3 days later.
Also, yes, I'm aware of how toxic "family businesses" can be but I'm used to it and have 0 interest in corporate at the time.
