All… almost 11 years ago I graduated from college with a degree in Information Systems with minor in business. However, I been in trucking ever since. I had a pretty successful career in management and I’m in a Sr Manager role. Salary is decent, however I want to find a way to IT, perhaps project manager? I’m very good at presenting, skills I lacked before extensive practice in my role and have a strong financial background that I feel would help.
The problem is that ever since I graduated and started working for this company I pretty much forgot about IT. My job provides me with a laptop that we keep upgrading every couple of years or so. Literally I had to Google what is a chrome book a year or so ago since all the technology I use is provided for me. Needless to say I would need refreshers all over again. Would my best path be to basically get another degree? Another bachelors or at least an associates ? Or maybe just some specific classes on something ? I doubt any company would hire an “IT project manager” with no experience.
