I’ve been at the company for 3+ yrs now, this is at a different site and the job was referred to me by my former director - she works side-by-side with the hiring manager.
Here’s been my interactions thus far:
-
07/25 - former boss tells me to apply for a position and said I’d be a good fit.
-
07/26 - I sent in my application. Get a phone screening set up with the hiring manager within hours of sending in my application.
-
07/28 - Phone screening but it was mostly the hiring manager talking about the job and not really asking me any questions.
-
08/10 - Received scheduling for interview panel. Honestly forgot I even applied for the job, thought he didn’t like me from the screen.
-
08/13 - Interviews 1 & 2. Both went well, they were directors I’d be working/interacting with. I had another interview slated here but she couldn’t make it.
-
08/16 - Interview 3 was with the hiring manager and it went well, we went well over the slotted 30mins. He wanted to me to still interview w/ the missed panel member because he wants everyone’s feedback.
-
08/17 - Interview 4 ends up happening the next day. Again, go well over the time but I think it was overall positive.
-
08/30 - Almost two weeks go by and I assume I didn’t get the job, which is fine. I emailed the recruiter asking for an update on which she says :
“Hi iggyazaleatown:
Thanks for reaching out. John Doe is in the final phase of his process and should be coming to a decision soon. I will keep you posted,
Thanks much!”
Should I take this for what it’s worth - that I’m narrowed down as a finalist? Or is this language a ‘letting you down easy’ approach since it’s an internal position. I’ve applied for an internal position previously and didn’t get it, but when I reached out to the recruiter I just received a generic rejection.
