Waiting on background check after tentative offer letter

Had a phone interview and passes end of July, and was notified that it generally takes about 4 weeks until background check is done. (And mentioned drug screen and physical) I called after 2 weeks of nothing (strangely had a recruiter call me back checking if I was still interested )

Approaching the full 4-week mark and haven't been hearing much from the company. I don't expect anything to be turning up that will lose me the job, but still worried I'm not going to actually be hired.

I've kind of dropped the ball on looking for other things while this has been in progress and I've just been waiting to leave my previous workplace once my new work is set.
