Is pre employment training legal?

I applied for a customer service job and I’m required to complete 10 training modules before my actual training class starts. If I don’t finish these online training courses, I will be dropped from the in person training class.

Is this even legal? They didn’t mention any type of pay for the online or in person training. And I’m being paid $12/hour, which is below the 25 percentile in my area.
