I got an offer which I accepted as a project specialist at a really amazing tech company and would be starting in 2 weeks. It’s been my dream to combine my experience into a role within the tech industry. The role is mostly remote and offers great benefits. The downside is that they are offering me $5k less than I’m currently making but when calculating the benefits it makes up for it. They were not willing to match my current salary and I would be going from an assistant manager to a specialist which kind of feels like a downgrade in title.
But I just got another offer at a different company that is offering me $25k more a year than the tech position and it is a manager position so it will definitely be an increase in title as well.It’s not as fun and exiting as the tech role but it’s definitely a higher position and pays so much better. If I take this Role, it could literally make my career.
If there was a way that the tech company could increase my salary to match this offer and change the role from specialist to manager title I would take it in a heartbeat. Is it reasonable to ask if they could accommodate this request or reject the job if they aren’t able to? I don’t want to turn down such an exciting offer just because of title and salary but at the same time it seems stupid to turn down an additional $25k in salary and title. Any thoughts or any experiences that you can share to help me make my decision are greatly appreciated.
