Applying for new jobs with a ~6 month new job on your resume?

I'll make this quick. I started a new job almost 6 months ago and absolutely loathe it with every fibre of my being. It is ruining my mental health. I need out.

I'm actively applying for new jobs and have this current 6 month one on my resume. Reason being, last year I could not for the life of me find a job in my field due to COVID and I worked in an unrelated position. I'm now worried that if I remove my current job, albeit short, then I will not get any attention from employers in my field.

Should I take this job off my resume to avoid looking like a job hopper, or leave it? If I do take it off, how do I explain the 6 month gap in employment? I suppose I could lie and say I'm still working at my last role and I doubt they'd contact them, however I'd like to remain truthful.
