Hopefully this won’t be too long most of it is a rant. I graduated almost 2 years ago with a bachelor of science degree in legal studies hoping to become a paralegal and go to law school. I graduated in December a few months right before the pandemic started I’m not sure if that had any impact on me finding a job or not perhaps it’s just me. I did get an interview two months after graduating at a law firm unfortunately I didn’t get the position. I thought I wanted to be a lawyer but considering the way the industry is in America and all the debt and education needed I decided it wasn’t the best idea for me.
I tried to get a job in a law firm doing almost anything and I was hoping that even though I didn’t have any experience or internships that my degree would still help me somehow improve that I’m capable of learning things. That didn’t work out and I was never able to get a job at a law firm up until now. I ended up settling for a seasonal customer service job after that ended I worked as a scribe making $10 an hour. Now I’m just not sure what to do with my life at this point I’m not even thinking about getting a job in the legal field.
I’ve considered getting a few IT certifications because I’m good with computers but there’s a lot of entry level IT Jobs I recently applied to and so far I’m not getting anything probably because of my lack of experience and I don’t have any certifications yet. I was hoping to maybe do something along the lines of programming but now I’m not sure if I have the patience and motivation to do it because they have programming languages and frameworks that come out almost every year and things need to constantly be changed and you have to be willing to learn new things all the time if you don’t keep up you could be in danger of losing your job I’m also noticing some of the entry level jobs pay very low than what it used to some years ago. Even if I wanted to do programming it seems like it would’ve been better had I had a computer science degree.
At this point I want to be able to travel and live my life and find something that I could do remotely at least for a couple of years but of course I’ll take what I can get for now because I don’t like the scribe job and $10 an hour is really nothing much. But now I’m just questioning if I made a mistake going to college at all unfortunately as a small girl I can’t do any trades I’m really not that much of a smart person I don’t know what job or career I should do next I’m not even sure what I like to do I just want a regular job where I go to work and make decent money for low stress and when I come home I got to live my life and when it’s the weekend I get to live my life. Is it just me or is it hard to find something like this?
summary: idk what to do with my life and just want a normal job that doesn’t pay chicken feed. What should I do now? Being a lawyer didn’t work now it seems IT won’t work either. I also considered the idea of being a teacher since I have my bs and like kids. But it’s difficult to be a teacher now and the market is kind of saturated.
I feel like we have to constantly be learning newer and newer skills to stay competitive in the job market and ppl aka managers are making things harder than it needs to be.
