First I want to note that this isn’t my main Reddit account. Didn’t want my employer to see this post and my other account is easier to find.
In the beginning of last year, the company I worked for was moving to New York, so I left because I didn’t want to move. Unfortunately, this was in February and the timing couldn’t be worse. I spent the whole year searching for employment, but it was obviously impossible due to the pandemic. I finally got an offer to start at a new place in January at a pretty big company in the digital marketing space (specifically affiliate marketing). It pays pretty well, and I was just relieved to finally have something.
It’s fully remote, which is awesome, but everyone who works on my team has been there for awhile and have actually known each other for awhile, so the “outsider” vibes have been strong. I also give 0 shits about digital marketing and really hate what I’m doing. Because of the remote work, training has also been hit or miss, so I often get blamed for little problems that I’ve never even heard about.
There’s more, but I’ve hit a really bad place of depression and I’m absolutely miserable. I’ve always struggled with severe depression (runs in the family), anxiety, and ADHD, and it’s getting to a nasty point, and it’s starting to effect my work which in-turn makes everything worse.
I know it’s a “job seeker’s market” right now, so I’ve very seriously thought about looking for something better and something I’d be more interested in, but I don’t want to end up screwing myself over with leaving a job I only had for 5 months. Obviously I wouldn’t quit until something else was lined up, but I don’t want to scare off potential employers.
Sorry for the novel—Just really not sure what to do. I’ve been a member of this subreddit for a long time, and you’re all so great! Not sure if I’ll get any responses to this, but thank you in advance for taking the time to even read this.
Let me know if I need to elaborate on anything!
