So I am currently a waiter, that was my first job which I found exactly 1 month ago. Had no previous experiences in that specific department.
A few issues with it:
● Pays utterly bad (compared to other local restaurants/bars, it pays extremely bad per hour
● The boss is kind of an asshole. He is always telling us how we should bring people to the place (aka come for coffee/food with friends there), or else our job is 'at risk', which means perhaps less hours to work etc. It keeps happening and it gets tiring at this point
● He is very stingy? Let's say that. Example; If I leave 10 minutes earlier than supposed to (because he tells me to, not like I leave whenever I want) he will take that 10 mins into account and pay less than he already does
● It's not full time. I work there only 2-3 times a week, and he keeps hiring people for some reason. My guess is he does it cuz; more waiters = more people coming (cuz friends etc), but that means each waiter barely gets any hours
I have found a better one that pays almost double and the environment looks very good. Good people etc. I however feel guilty to leave my current one. They probably think I will stay there for a long long time, and if I tell them I am leaving god knows what they will think. In addition to that, they will go on holidays in July, and they will probably rely on a few of us for the time their are gonna be absent (the bar is owned by my boss and his wife btw). So if I leave, they gonna struggle a lot with it until they find a new one.
Etc. I feel like I will screw them by leaving, but on the other hand, the new job:...More money, better environment, literally next to my house. Why miss it?
