Leaving my first “adult job” after almost 5 years! Honestly, I’m just so freaking excited!!
Granted from 2019 until about April 2020 I was greatly enjoying the job more because I had a great team and an amazing supervisor. But I got promoted about a month after my area shut down due to covid restrictions and the company had zero idea how to transition thousands of employees to remote jobs (literally there were still kinks 12 months after shut downs). Made deadlines more difficult, 24 hours to 2 hours, made lots of changes that wouldn’t accommodate people taking time off, and not to mention people are quitting left and right causing other employees to pick up the slack all over the country.
I probably wouldn’t have tried to leave if I didn’t get sent back into the office full time a few weeks ago (even though we were promised remote hybrid schedules) but my numbers suffered for a few months (partially because I was grieving my fathers passing). I definitely wouldn’t have considered leaving because of my previous supervisor, literally made the work worth it sometimes.
But I have a start date with a new company and it’s fully remote! I’m very excited to resign from my current position, even though it will be awkward since my boss is still working remotely and I’ll be in the office calling through Webex. Someone wish me luck on that 😅
Just hoping that someone else out there sees this and realizes that it is possible even though it’s hard to even get an interview nowadays and it’s okay to step outside your comfort zone!
