Surgeries and HR is NOT YOUR FRIEND

Mostly for office based work. How do you get time off for Transgender related elective and non-elective surgeries, but also get to keep your job and/or not have it used to make your life more miserable in some way?

BTW Don't have problems with taking unpaid time off for elective.

One thing that I will do for my next job is join a union. HR is there to represent the company's interest. Therefore, I should also have someone to help represent mine.
