Reference Check

Received an email this morning for a job I am really interested in letting me know they have been unable to get a response from a professional reference stated on my application asking if I could contact him. I sent them 3 new updated references instead (since I also could not get a hold of him today) and called them before providing them just to make sure it was okay with them and they would answer.

It is 5PM and the three references are telling me they did not hear from anyone about the job yet. Do I still have a chance at getting the reference check since I provided them with new references?
