Quitting a 100K corporate job in NYC to relocate to CA to start over because I'm feeling miserable - is it a bad idea?
I'm in the corporate world making around 100K before taxes working in NYC (living in NJ though), turning 29 soon. However, I feel miserable here and I want to move out to CA, preferably somewhere in Southern California (LA Metro Area) by the beaches. Why? Because I have relatives over there and a couple friends so I've had the chance to visit several times and spend some time and I absolutely loved it - just thought my lifestyle in general would be better suited there and weather is a big factor for me as I absolutely detest the cold winter months here in the east coast.
The thing is though - I don't necessarily hate my job and my workplace. I work for a big reputable company that's internationally well-known and I feel so lucky to even making 100K (although it may not sound like a whole lot according to NYC standards) but I'm sick of the same old environment/scenery/people and I just want move out west and start over from scratch. The only problem is though having to quit my job AND being able to find a new job (that aligns with my experience) in a short period of time without my drastically lowering my standards and expectations. (Since I make 100K here in NYC, I would want something equivalent/close to equivalent to that in Cali). So it's like a big sacrifice that I have to be willing to take and I was wondering if this would all be worth it at the end? I currently have no debt and have about 60K in cashed saved up. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.
