Philosophy and Church

I’m an atheist, like I really do not believe in God, but I am really interested in how the Church works and I’m really intrigued to see if the church is as corrupt as some people say it is. I would really love to work for the church while not having the constrictions of a priest. I know it’s a really big stretch but I was just wondering if anyone knew of a job that works in correlation with the church to discuss and investigate religious experiences and miracles and stuff? Any help would be appreciated
