I have a major job interview (2nd round case interview situation for consulting) scheduled at the same time that my landlord is planning to show my apartment to a new renter.
I can tell my landlord I'm in an interview and leave the door open so I don't have to get up from my computer, and I can use noise-cancelling earbuds to focus and not be too bothered by them. However, my interviewers will likely see and hear them in the background. I could use an artificial background to hide them, but they would still be heard, and it seems better to let them be seen because in my experience it is more distracting when you are trying to figure out what's going on behind the background and can't.
Will this reflect negatively upon me? If so, I can probably do the interview in a campus building, but honestly I am more comfortable at home because I haven't actually been to a campus building in over a year and am most used to my setup here. Will my interviewers be understanding that these things happen and maybe even appreciate if I can handle myself appropriately? Or will it just look bad if there's stuff going on in the background?
Thank you for any advice!
