I started to work for a low voltage company on January the 4th. There's some issues i have with this company and I'm not sure if they are red flags or if this is just me being frustrated because I'm the rookie.
I came in not knowing anything, i even told the owners of the company that i didn't know anything when i had my interview. However, I don't think they told my manager this or he just doesn't care. He talks to me like I already have years of experience doing this and when i tell him that i don't understand he gets an attitude with me.
The training here sucks! Since we are timed on our work, most of the coworkers just fly through their work without giving much info on what they are doing. If i do something wrong than i am getting yelled at by them or my manager. Most of what I know now is through all the mistakes i have made when i was learning from them. If the training on the basic stuff is this bad then i can't imagine how training for the more advance stuff is going to be.
I'm so f*cking tired of getting yelled at for something i wasn't properly informed on how to do!
This last issue I'm going to talk about is the straw the broke the camels back for me. All of the workers have a company vehicle to take home. My vehicle is this beat up ford ranger that obviously needed new wheel bearings. During the same week i got the vehicle i told my manager that they needed to be replaced. He told me that he would talk to the owners about it, I haven't heard anything from him since. Today on my way to work I told him i was hearing a grinding noise coming from the right side, the truck kept wanting to pull to the right, and the abs light came on. He told me to take it out anyway because he didn't have another vehicle i could take. After about 15 to 20 minutes of driving on the highway i kept feeling the truck steer to the right, so i kept steering left. All of of the sudden the passenger front tire locks up and i see all this smoke coming from underneath the truck. Thank god there was nobody in the far right lane next to me otherwise i would of probably hit them. I managed to avoid hitting anything or anyone, after i came to a stop i sat there feeling really pissed off about all this:
-
Who knows what could of happen if there were any vehicles next to me, I could of been hurt or i could of hurt someone else.
-
This could of easily been avoided if he would of just listened to me. So the fact that he didn't come back to me when i first brought it up to him means that he didn't care or the company has our safety on a budget.
So yeah, this is why i want to leave.
I would like to stay because the work itself is so much better than my last job and also getting a company vehicle is nice. Plus at the end of the year i will get a 401k.
However these perks are not worth it if i am in a toxic company, i just don't know what to do if i quit. I am not going back to my last job that's for sure! I might travel, I have always felt the place where i am from just isn't for me.
Hopefully i picked the right flair, i wasn't sure what flair to click on.
