Does anyone know anything about security clearances?!

So I have a new job, which I love. They are talking about having me get a security clearance to further myself in the company. That’s great and all.. except I have been arrested a few times before years ago. Will this stop me from obtaining a clearance?! Does anyone have experience with this?!? Thanks!
