Do recruiters call to reject you?

I interviewed just over a week ago with some hospital managers. It seemed to go well and they were talking about a second interview at the end. Well I got a missed call from the recruiter earlier today that I didn't notice since I was in classes. I left a voicemail to apologize but now I'm stressed having to wait until after the weekend to hear what the news is.

I've only been rejected via email or ghosting so I dont know what an unscheduled call means. Doesn't feel good that's for sure.
