Promotion came with Pay Cut, Move On?

I took a very low starting salary of $39,000 plus OT for an operations job, the job market wasn’t great at the time and I didn’t have the best grades. Anyways in the one year I’ve been there I’m now the most experienced person on a 7 person team, doing easily the most work and making the least amount of mistakes. My managers new and sees this and was able to get me a nice promotion that usually takes people 18-24 months. I thought I’d get a significant raise...

It came with a raise of 48 cents an hour: $1000 a year. I pushed back but they shut me down.

It also made me go from non exempt to exempt, so I won’t be making $10,000 worth of overtime this next year. But now “qualify” for a bonus, I’m guessing with be $5000 at the most.

Icing on the cake? They are giving me the promotion as of 2 weeks ago. I worked two 55+ hour weeks this month and I’m not getting paid the $850 OT which is almost as much as my “raise”

I’m replaceable, but no one else is capable of handling my 3 big clients. A new hire wouldn’t be able to take over what I do. I work with lazy people and carry the team. These clients bring in a lot of money.

My plan is to just take the promotion and pay cut, and apply for jobs ASAP. They sent me the email with details after the meeting on my pay started and didn’t mention the exempt part that was hidden in the doc.

Should I fight for a raise or just focus on getting a new job, my skills are very transferable and it’s niche field. I see a lot of job postings on LinkedIn, with few applicants. Pay looks to be $55k-70k a year.
