Hello, I’m 17 years old and today I started my second ever job, working at a starbucks in a grocery store.
The job itself is great, and theres no issues with it, but I am having trouble with providing proof of identity for my i-9 form. I don’t have a passport or anything from List A that would cover identity and employment authorization. My learners permit unfortunately expired in January, and I’m currently in a charter school that to my knowledge doesn’t provide a Student ID, and the one i have from my last school is 2019-2020, so I imagine thats not valid either.
I do have a social security card for List C, but right now my i-9 hasn’t been filled out because the lack of ID. In reading the chart listing all acceptable documents online, and it said that for individuals under 18 a school record or report card could be used if none of the above documents could be produced.
Would my transcript from my last school or my current charter school fit that requirement? I plan on asking the HR person that helped me fill out my paperwork today, but I don’t think they’ll be in until Wednesday so i thought I’d ask here in the meantime.
If I have to I’d have my parents take me to the DMV and get a State ID card or another learners permit (drivers license would raise insurance and I don’t even have a car yet), but if I could handle this without having to do that It’d be convenient.
