If a hiring manager tells you they’ll call you on Day X or Day Y and they don’t call you on Day X does that mean you’re essentially not getting the offer?
I’ve noticed a trend emerging when I reach final rounds of interviews and the hiring manager tells you when you should hear back from them. They say “I’ll give you a call on Monday or Tuesday to inform you of the decision” and you usually take that as a sign of “ok I’m definitely still in consideration”.
However, none of them have ever called the first day they said they would (Day X), and then they will either call on Day Y or after to tell you that they went with someone else.
So is this a common trend? Does not getting the call the first day essentially mean you are not their first option or that they went with someone else? If someone has had this experience or the opposite happen please do share.
