So I've been working as an activities director for a day program that supports homeless individuals. Something happened in the company to where they were losing a lot of money. I was hired at 40 hours a week, but they had to cut my hours down to 14 hours a week. Even though it sucked, I liked my job, co-workers and clients enough to stay. I was going broke with those hours and decided to find another job. I ended up landing a State job, and was put on swing shift...so it was cool...I can work my activities job 2 days a week and do my state job at night. I gave my activities job a heads up a month ahead of time to do my orientation. During my orientation for the state job, I get a text message from my boss telling me that I now have a good paying job with full time hours, I'm a good person and deserve my job and that they will be hiring someone else to take my position and that I need to focus on my new job. Really?! I feel like that wasn't their place to make that decision for me...but oh well, what can I do? I'm just bummed that I didn't get the chance to tell my coworkers and clients goodbye. Am I wrong to be a bit pissed? Or was my boss just doing me a favor?
