Full Time Employee to Contractor - What is fair rate?

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on reddit. I've recently lost my job due to COVID-19 and my previous company did a lot of layoffs. I'm in BC, Canada and work as a Frontend Developer. Recently I managed to get an offer that is 5k below (90k) my last company (95k). But another company is interviewing me and they are looking to hire a contractor for 6 months with extensions. The question I have is, how much is reasonable for an hourly rate? The agency told me that hourly rate should be around 60-65 I think, but I've read in other forums that that is low. That being said, the agency does give extended benefits on their own accord.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm struggling to make a decision at the moment!

Thanks in advance!
