Does anyone else dislike their job but make it sound like they like it to anyone who asks?

I’m a huge perfectionist / people pleaser, and I have a need to sound like everything’s going great. I do consult my boss with questions and realistic updates on things occasionally, but whenever my boss/others ask me how I’m doing, I always sound super positive and optimistic. It’s so weird, and I literally cannot control my impulse to do that.

People are always impressed and they say it sounds like I’m loving my job. Of course I’m happy to have a job. But in reality, I feel like I’m hardly doing anything of value, I don’t feel super productive, and I feel like I’m not learning at all and just doing busy work. I feel like my boss wouldn’t react well if I told them the truth. What can I do to make this situation better?? Thanks.
