Capitalism is about to force my employer to find someone else

I've made posts about this offer in this community before but

USDI hits me up with a job offer for a Science Biotechnician thing in MN. I get a few days to research the area for housing. Then I have to say yes or lose the position, so I panic and say yes. I get another 12 days post that to fill out paperwork.
I’ve spend 2 weeks straight trying to figure out where to live based on the salary they think I need ($10/hour too short for COL).

Here's a rundown of the minimum costs I've looked at within 70 miles of the work location:
1. Cost of shipping minimum furniture: $3,118 one-way. (UPack.com, PODS)
2. Cost of renting furniture: $1,415.52 for 6 months (af-rentall.com, rac)
3. Cost renting RV/motorhome: $90/NIGHT (cheapest. Does not include $1 for every 1 mile for delivery)
4. Cost of renting Airbnb: $210/NIGHT
5. Roommate finder/craigslist: 0
6. Average cost of short-term furnished apartment: $1,500/month
>> 8 options listed within 95 mi of Pipestone. All in Sioux Falls.
>> contacted each, only 1 available for the job duration
>> it’s 50 miles away from Pipestone (1-way)
>> rent is $2,100/month
>> no other short term options.

MN has a State tax, federal tax, and higher sales tax so I calculate that into my budget.
I’m short by over $900/month

I lay out the issue for HR and ask about the salary and housing options. I get redirected to the supervisor. The supervisor refuses, citing my experience (knowing I make $3 more/hr in my state) and his budget. Says “I know this is probably no consolation but I hope it isn’t a deal breaker and you will be able to join us for the season.”

Then tells me I have to buy my own uniform.
