My boss texts me pretty often, usually after work if they were unable to check in with me or on the weekends as they do a lot of overtime on the weekends and evenings so work is on the brain. I am usually fine with it, and okay to talk about work after hours, but since I typically do not work in the evenings or on weekends it sometimes feels a little bit much.
Am I obligated to always respond/keep the conversation going when it can potentially end? Can I just pick up the conversation at work the next day and be like “sorry I had a busy night and didn’t reply to your text, how did ___ go?/ where are we at with ___?”
This is a corporate office work environment and we are both salaried if that makes a difference. Let me know your thoughts on this situation.
