Been at new job for four months. Forced to work from home for 1.5 days every week but not given anything to do.

Title says most of it. Got a pretty high-profile laboratory job a few months back after nearly a year of searching. Training has been painfully slow. Only just now have I finished certain pre-requisites for what I am going to be doing. My lab is operating on a A Team/B Team basis for the duration of covid, meaning half the people come on site first half of the week and work from the second half and vice versa. (It includes weekend days hence the 3.5 days on site, 1 day at home for me)

My issue is they are forcing me to do 1.5 days at home but not giving me anything specifically to do at home. For a long time I've had training documents to read and sign off on but I'm done now. I have made it very well known to my upper management that I dont have much to do thats WFH but have always made made sure I was available for the full 8 hour day and still go to the meetings, answer/check emails, etc.

Currently I'm waiting on additional software licenses for me to continue my actual lab training. And most of the wfh tasks seem to be given to other people before me. Most of my time onsite has been spent doing nothing and waiting for trainers to become available but I've still been on-site physically at work. Will they ever come down on me for "mis-reporting" my wfh time when its still time I've been available and continue to make it known to multiple people that I can do more? (If there's more to do that is.) I get paid hourly which is why I'm so stressed about it.

I also work for a company that contracts out its services to a client. Meaning the client is paying the company for my services. Not sure if that makes a difference but ive let both my actual management and client management know repeatedly that I can do more.

The upside is that once I'm fully trained in the lab I will probably be working longer than 8 hour days when I'm on site (like 9 or 10) and can work less on the WFH days. But that is still a while off.

Thanks for any insight!
