Is anyone else finding most job listing descriptions to be purposefully misleading (particularly on Indeed)?
I've come across so many job listings that say they're for one thing and are for about 10x that level of pay/workload/experience. Example: Found a "Customer Service Rep" job at an insurance co. that say the job is NOT a sales position, but then they required a license for selling insurance policies (which you would only need if you're doing sales). Seems like they're just trying to find a way to avoid paying commission/etc. and using a false title to trick people into working there.
I interviewed for one job at a major university for a "Media Relations Rep" position (description was for entry-level media relations tasks - nothing crazy) only to find out mid-interview that the job was going to require establishing an entire Media Relations Dept. for a new international campus including developing leads/relations, creating policies and procedures, hiring/managing a team of 6+ people, etc. That one I was told w/in 30 seconds into the interview that they only interviewed me for diversity b/c I had a military background, but I didn't have any of the qualifications of the other interviewees.
I've had this happen multiple times now and I am really losing motivation to leave my current terrible job because I just keep feeling tricked into applying to places that are just as dishonest as where I work now...
