I am a college senior applying to jobs. I initially was only using an academic CV (several pages, lots of research listed, hard to identify practical skills on it). However, after meeting with a career counselor I learned about resumes and made an industry-style resume that is a lot better for the positions I'm applying to (who are honestly probably pretty baffled by my academic CV).
I applied to one company a few weeks ago with the academic CV, got an interview, and interviewed today. I am planning to email tonight and thank them for their time. At the same time, I am wondering if I should also attach my new industry-style resume and explain that as I was transitioning from my academic background I originally used my CV but believe this resume may be more helpful.
Would that be a good idea, or would it look bad or draw attention to the fact I didn't know how to make a resume?
Thank you for advice! (This is a small startup consulting company, if it makes a difference.)
