When should I give notice?

Hello,

Canadian here (ontario) and I plan on quitting my job of 3 years at the end of March. I am relocating to Ottawa, I was wondering how much notice I should give?

The only reason I ask is because one of my former coworkers gave their two week notice and they just told him that they waived his notice and can leave that day.

Im the only person that does my job (scheduling) so im wondering if I should give them a months notice or 2 weeks. I'm just scared that if I give a month's notice that they will just tell me to leave that day, leaving me out of 2 extra paychecks.

Any advice?
