I have been working at a family owned industrial plastics for the past 3 years, I started in B2B sales and I was promoted to a management position in the B2C department. Our leadership training is an absolute joke; my boss copies and pastes materials from Dave Ramsey's Entreleadership and its just a gross injection of Christianity in the work place. I have only been a manager for 6 months so I am moving back to B2B sales. When I was in sales, I never missed my quota, I was always at the top of the inbound / outbound call competitions, and I had the best margin in the company. I miss the fast paced sales environment and I miss selling to businesses instead of consumers.
I have an offer to work remotely in a BDR position at a SAAS start up. I really want to get into SAAS but should I go for this BDR role or should I hold out for an AE position? I currently have another offer for an outside sales position with a commercial HVAC company with a higher salary but my goal is to get into SAAS. Am I even qualified for an AE role? I have 2 years experience of cold calling, a successful track record of meeting quota, and managing business relationships but no experience in tech.
