For context, I’m currently an administrative assistant for a mortgage company (working in office) and a little past 3 months in my employment. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning around both buildings that the company owns and helping HR administer interview assessments as well create files for new hires. Upper management is really picky about how the place looks even enough to have me come in on Saturdays to clean some more. I kinda do like that I can walk around and not stare at a computer all day but I don’t think this is something I want to do for a long time. I’m looking for something that would push my limits a bit more and was hoping to talk to my supervisor and VP sometime in the future about transferring to another department. Although I have no interest in the mortgage industry but just want to learn new skills.
How soon should I talk to management about this? And what should I mention if I do have a meeting with them? I posted this on another subreddit but only got one answer so I'm hoping for a little bit more feedback. Much thanks!
