So I just started a new job that “technically” pays 10 dollars an hour/ 1,600 a month. I made the mistake of assuming they do W2 taxes which is when they pay you already discounting your taxes, but I just found out they do 1099 and i have to put aside 30% of my earnings for the IRS. I did the calculation and am technically making 7 dollars an hour then. Is it legal for them to do this or is it a loophole to pay me less than minimum wage?
