I applied for basically the "lowest" position a company had to offer, it wasn't really something I wanted to do but I am in desperate need of a job after getting laid off recently due to COVID. I have some prior experience (which is how I know I don't like the work) so I thought I'd be a good back up since I still haven't found anything. Well, we had a phone interview and after the first one they immediatly wanted me to do something higher up. Had another interview, and they offered me a job. I really thought that I was being scammed because I feel like- no, I KNOW- its out of my league. Based off the experience I gained from my last job, they thought those skills were very similar to what I'd be doing in this position. But still, it's a way bigger company and I've never done something like this before. I don't know if they're desperate or something. I accepted because the starting pay is great, and IF it goes well it could be a great opportunity. But I'm terrified about the fact I know I'm under qualified and they for some reason don't seem to notice that. They're going to think I know what I'm doing, but I don't. I'm very scared to actually start this position. I don't know why they hired me, it's weird. I hope it'll be good and I'm just getting lucky?
I guess what I'm wondering here is, Has anyone else ever been in a similar position? Any advice on how to fake it till I make it in this position? If it helps, I'll be doing inventory/billing in the office part of the building. Never even had an office job before.
