I am in graduate school and my school went mandatory pass fail last spring due to covid. BUT we switched back to normal grading in the fall for the 20/21 school year.
I had a second interview today at a job I really really want! I sent in a resume and transcript before my grades came out from this last semester (letter grades). So I had pass/fail grades from last spring, and no grades listed for this past fall (although my courses were listed).
During my interview, one of the interviewers asked if I sent an updated transcript. Before I could answer, another interviewer said, “no everything is pass fail, that is updated— they just don’t have letter grades.” (So they won’t be asking me for an updated resume, since they think it is updated).
That statement was wrong, I do have letter grades from this last semester. BUT, I PANICKED, and I did not correct her. To make matters worse, my grades did go down last semester because I really struggle with online school and testing.
I thought that was the end of it— but then at the end of my interview, I was asked how pass/fail works and how other students were adjusting to it. I was so scared since I didn’t already correct her before. So instead of correcting her now, I just answered the question as though we were still pass/fail.
WHATS MORE. There is a possibility that they will be interviewing more people from my school because they collected resumes from students at my school!!! I just don’t know how many other people got a second interview.
I don’t know what the f*** to do. I panicked and now I may have just ruined my chances at this job.
