Asking for a raise after 5/5 exceeds expectations annual performance review (and finding out new hire in same role makes more than I do)

Hey guys,

Recently I went through my performance review and my boss passed with 5/5 on literally every single portion. He said he’s going to have me start training foreign branch workers and put me on projects for an entire new team.

I’m very excited and comfy in my job however I believe I’m underpaid. When I was hired I went through a recruiter and was offered potentially less because a portion of my first year salary goes to the recruiter. The average Glassdoor salary for my role is 70K at my place of employment and I make 55K.

I also recently helped a new person (a friend of mine) get hired and they were brought on board making 10K more than I am currently.

How do I ensure I receive a raise to at least that amount of money? I am making the same amount as when I started and am far more valuable than I used to be now.

Thanks!
