Any advice for a recent university graduate looking for a job as a technical writer/editor?

Hi, I'm a recent English degree graduate and I've applied to ~30 job/internships and haven't gotten any offers back. I'm mostly interested in working entry level or interning as a technical writer or editor, but I find that it's so difficult to get any offers. I'm from D.C, and I’ve worked as a data intern previously at my university newspaper. I’ve also have taken several courses in mathematics up to 400 level as well as some courses computer science as well as course work in editing if that helps. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can secure a job in this market or any advice?
