Hey guys. So, I have been at a company or around 2.5 years as an intern. It was continuous and they told me they would hire me once I graduated. It's been basically two months since I graduated and they have not done it. So, three days ago I put in my two weeks notice because I received another job offer. Now the job I am currently at is trying to rush and put together an offer for me. Turns out, the offer is more than what I got at the new company. Should I take the offer with my current company and burn a bridge with the new company that I have already accepted the offer for? Or stick with the new company.
To be honest, with the new job, I kind of lowballed myself and could honestly be making around 5k more but I lowered my range because the other prospective options that I had were paying even lower than what this new company is offering me, so I really wanted to make this one work. However, I am realizing now that I am kind of regretting it/worried about it. This new company is in a completely different area and if I can find a place down there (because its in the country and the apartments go quickly) , it will be around 30 minutes away from the beach. If I cannot find one in the area I want, then I will have to go further out closer to the beach, which will put me at an hour commute to my job (one way).
The current company has kept me in the internship for two years; however, they did not hire me on after I graduated. They also have had a few financial issues recently due to COVID and have even demoted/furloughed some people very recently. Also, the job itself is not necessarily fulfilling either; however, I could easily transfer to another department in a couple of months due to some new projects coming their way. Since they're paying me more, and there is little to no transition at all, it seems so easy to say yes to this prospect. But now I am thinking, what if there is something waiting better for me at the other job? It is in a completely different industry and I will literally be learning something completely different; however, they're not paying me what I think I'm worth (which is my fault because I gave them the range and they picked the lowest).
Maybe I'm overthinking things, idk. Thoughts?
