Hello,
I am writing this post for my uncle because he doesn't have reddit and I'm sure you guys will have good advice.
My uncle's been working for a company for 11 years as a computer engineer and has a managerial position for the department (there are 3 of these). I'm not super familiar with his roles but I know he has put an insane amount of work in to the position because I see it. He often works outside of hours since they have many "crises" that need managing and is always willing to help. The employees that he manages have said before that is a good manager. Now, my uncle's boss is retiring soon and a couple months back, told my uncle that when he retires, his job will go to my uncle (and others have confirmed this, though unofficially). The past few months have been tough on us (like for many people) as my uncle lost his brother to COVID but he has been looking forward to this and giving MANY presentations to the company board to provide suggestions for what the next steps are for the company.
HOWEVER, today my uncle found out through his boss that they have given the position to the TWO other managers (meaning they made one position into two positions giving it to both people and NOT my uncle who they had earlier confirmed would be getting the position and for which my uncle has given many presentations). My uncle feels screwed over, cheated and is distraught. We need advice. Thank you in advance!
