I am currently applying for jobs. The jobs I am applying for mostly ask for me to attach 3 letter of recommendations to my application. I have a couple questions.

Will having only 1 letter of recommendation automatically rule me out? I currently have one, but have not asked for others as I do not have many references that I feel like I would normally ask for a recommendation letter from.

It was my understanding that I should never as for a letter of recommendation to be sent to myself to attach to applications. Is this common? And how should I go about asking for these from my references?
