This is hypothetical because I am still in the interview process for both, no offers yet, but I want to think about and be prepared if this happens.
I am interviewing for Company A and Company B, both are good but I really want to work for Company B.
The issue is the timeline. Company A I am going to have my final interview this week. I was referred and my referral works in the department, I’ve been hearing great feedback and think I will get an offer.
Company B I interviewed with last week for 2 hours. I completed an assignment and the hiring manager was happy with my answers, said she would speak to her colleagues and “if all goes well”, I would speak to two more people. I was told originally by the recruiter that would be the final step.
The issue is I assume Company A may send me an offer by next week the latest; Company B I may only get that final interview next week the earliest.
I really want Company B, but I also need a job and don’t want to string Company A along. I would be nervous to burn a bridge as well because an old coworker referred me, and he and I worked together for 4 years at my current job.
Some questions/advice needed: •Is there any way I can manage the timelines effectively? Ideally I would love to have both at once.
•How can I communicate to Company B to maybe let me know their decision faster?
•If Company A reaches out first, and a week or so later I get an offer from Company B- how can I burn the bridge as respectfully as possible? I want to do what is best for myself for once.
*If it helps, Company A and B are not the same industry. I am also currently employed. Sorry for the format on mobile.
