I recently got a new job at a large company and I have a past that's weighing heavily on my mind. I was fired from two jobs in my life: a retail position after a few weeks and an office job after about a year. I know that these two experiences don't really work in my favor, but I feel like I'm a completely different person now (the second termination was a huge wakeup call). I've had a job since, and have gotten along well with my colleagues and boss.
After doing my LinkedIn research I figured there's a good likelihood I'll run into mutual connections and friends of people from the jobs I got fired from. As a matter of fact, I think my old boss's sister works at the new company.
Can anyone give any pointers on how I could handle any obviously awkward communications? Has anyone gotten fired and run into people who were connected to their old bosses or colleagues?
