Employer didn't pay me. Am I right to request payment?

Hello. I work at a Dunkin Donuts and worked a shift that turns out, I wasn't supposed to work. Am I allowed to get payment for that shift? Or no, since I technically was not supposed to work that shift? Was five hours of my life just wasted? The reason i'm asking is because my paycheck recently came in and instead of the three days I worked I only got payment for two of them.
