I worked the last two and a half years (the most recent six months in overnight management) in grocery retail after leaving the military, and I left to re-learn how to drive a tractor-trailer. I'm only two weeks into CDL school, but it's been the best thing I've done for my mental and physical health for awhile.
Before I decided on trucking, I applied to dozens of jobs over the last year with a handful of interviews scheduled, but since applying to driving jobs I've received more requests for "interviews" than I can count! Mentally, it's SO nice being perused for a position rather than perusing one. I seriously can't wait until I pass my driving test and GET TO PICK a company to work for!
Sorry for the braggy post, but I'm just so happy to finally be working towards a job I'm actually excited about.
