How on earth do you logistically handle job hunting and moving to a new city when you and your partner live together (and neither can afford to live alone)?
Am I missing something? If one person gets a job first and moves out there, now neither of you can afford rent in either city. Many couples share a bedroom so you can't sublet or get a roommate. I have friends who one moved down and got roommates and when the other got a job moved and also got roommates and then had to find subletters or wait until both their leases were up to find a place together. It seems absurd to me that the only solution is to go from living together to living apart and then back together and this isn't a unique issue, so I feel I have to be overlooking something here.
