I'm 22 right now, graduated film school back in May.
I spent 3 years of film school doing internships at studios and production companies and my plan out of school was to become an assistant at one of them. But of course COVID hit and all the jobs disappeared. But now I'm working in content at a social media start-up and making twice what I would be making as a production assistant at say Warner Bros. The work is more rewarding too, I'm reaching out to creators and getting them on the app and doing content strategy rather than grabbing coffee for producers. But my eventual goal is to become a creative executive before getting my MBA and hopefully becoming a studio executive.
Most of my bosses at places like Disney and Sony Pictures did the route of production assistant (low-level gofer) to assistant to coordinator to creative executive. But because of financial reasons, I don't want to give up my job at the social media start up and take a far lower paying position as a PA at Warner Bros. But I still eventually want to be on the path to creative executive.
Do I need to be a PA or am I fine where I am?
