Please help! Obviously Covid has caused problems for a lot of people in the job department and we aren’t any different.
My husband got his dream job in March after getting his masters degree and less than a month later was “furloughed” only to find out they hired someone else to take his place and just didn’t like him apparently? Then ghosted him. Let’s preface this with every employer my husband has worked for loves him and he has always been their top employee. Now he’s applied for a lot of jobs. He has gotten about 6 interviews from all of the jobs he has applied for. Each interview goes the same way. They tell him he would be an amazing fit and he will hear from them within the week. But he never hears from them, just straight up ghosted. He’s even reached out to see if they needed anything else from him and even asked what went wrong and why? But nothing. We even had a friend that offered to hire him on and to apply. He applied and interviewed with HR. They literally told him they wanted to hire him and just needed to figure out a good place to start him at and would call him the next day. They never called. He reached back out to the friend who was going to hire him and he reached out to HR. He told him to call to check in and he never heard anything back. Ghosted. The friend was even upset because he needs people and needs to hire and it just wouldn’t happen and they wouldn’t give him an explanation. Yesterday was the most recent interview. They told him they thought he would be a good fit and they would get back to him within the next day or two. He got an email this morning saying he was denied the job. Now this job was almost a guarantee. His brother works for the company and he referred him and vouched for him. His brothers manager said to have him apply and he would hire him on. My husband interviewed with HR not this manager. His manager hasn’t even seen his application. Please help. We don’t understand why this is happening. We are about to lose our house and we have kids to take care of. Anyone know why this is happening to us? We need to know what’s happening so we can try to fix it. My husband is not a felon and has a clean record. He works hard and has two degrees. He has recommendation letters. He’s had professionals look at his resume and they have said it is great. Any advice or ideas why this is happening would be appreciated. I don’t know where else to turn and we both feel hopeless.
