Hi everyone,
So I recently started working with a thriving, well known start up but as a remote independent contractor. It pays $15/hr and is 40 hours a week. It’s a great position, love the team and the work I am doing. I also love the freedom to work when I want with no micromanaging. It’s a seasonal position but when I did ask if I could stay past that date and the manager told me it’s definitely a possibility as long business is doing well and there are hours.
Ok so I also got offered a position at wrrk.com which pays $12/hr and I think part time (for now). I would be a w-2 employee which would be nice. It pays a little less and the hours a lot less flexible. It is still remote which is nice too.
I’m at a loss, I have no one to ask advice on what I should do.. I’ve always been told it is better to be an employee vs an independent contractor. I’m scared of being let go at my current position once the “busy” season is over and I would have lost the opportunity to be an actual employee somewhere else.
Does anyone have any advice or anything to share of their experience with either? I can do math and figure out my taxes but I just want to make sure I’m not digging myself into a hole come March.
